Is It an Insurance Claim? Not Always. Here's What We Found.

This is a real inspection photo from a recent job — and this one is NOT an insurance claim.

What caused this damage? Clogged gutters.

When gutters fill up with debris and aren't maintained, water has nowhere to go. On a low-slope roof like this one, that water backs up, sits under the shingles, and over time — it rots through the decking and creates a hole exactly like this.

This is 100% a maintenance issue, not storm damage. That means insurance won't cover it, but the good news is it's a fixable repair without the headache of a claim.

The lesson here:
Clean your gutters. Especially if you have any low-slope or low-pitch sections on your roof. Water that has nowhere to drain will always find a way in.
