HEY EVERYONE! WE FIGURED IT WAS TIME TO INTRODUCE OURSELVES!
Hey everyone! My name is Nic, and this is my wife, Nicole. And yes, before anyone asks… Nic and Nicole! We promise we didn’t plan it that way!
We thought it was about time to introduce ourselves to everyone, especially those of you who have seen our trucks driving all over the Brainerd Lakes Area but might not know the people behind the business. We’re Nic and Nicole Athnos, and together we own and operate Nic’s Works Tree Service right here in East Gull Lake, Minnesota. But our story started long before the trucks, equipment, and tree jobs you see today.
I guess you could say I grew up with a little bit of everywhere in me. I’m what they call a military brat, and because of my parents' military careers, I had the opportunity to travel and experience different places growing up.
I got my start doing landscaping and mowing lawns while I was in high school in Virginia. Halfway through my senior year, I made a pretty big decision and moved to Minnesota to be closer to what I’ve always considered home our family farm in Spicer.
From Spicer, I made my way to Brainerd to attend college for horticulture. I eventually joined the military myself, and after I continued working in landscaping.
I met the woman who would become my wife, my best friend, and my partner in all of this - Nicole. We now have three children.
In 2012, Nicole and I took that leap and started Nic’s Works Tree Service.
Like any small business, it took a lot of hard work, long days, sacrifices, and figuring things out as we went. Building a business isn't always easy, but we believed in what we were building, and we kept pushing forward.
I’m out in the field, running the operations and working alongside our crew, while Nicole handles so much of what happens behind the scenes. People might see the trucks and equipment, but they don't always see the countless hours, planning, phone calls, paperwork, and everything else that goes into keeping a small business running.
Nic’s Works isn't just a business to us. It's something we have built together, and that we are incredibly proud of.
Today, Nic’s Works has grown into one of the established tree service companies serving the Brainerd Lakes Area. We have an amazing team, the equipment to take on some pretty big projects, and the opportunity to help people throughout the community we call home.
We can handle just about any tree care need, including:
🌲 Tree removal
🌳 Tree trimming and pruning
⚠️ Hazardous tree removal
🚜 Lot and land clearing
⛈️ Storm damage cleanup
🪵 Stump grinding
💪 And much more!
But if there's one thing I hope people know about us, it's this:
We treat every property like it's our own.
We understand that we're being trusted with their property. We don't take that lightly. We want our customers to feel good about choosing us, know that we're going to do our best, and be happy with the work.
To everyone who has hired us, recommended us to a friend, shared one of our posts, waved when you've seen our trucks, or supported us in any way over the years -
THANK YOU!
Seriously, we mean that.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to many more years, many more projects, and many more great seasons ahead!
WE JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU IN ONE MORE WAY.
From now through November 1, 2026, we're offering FREE STUMP GRINDING with any qualifying tree service project booked with us when you mention this Facebook post in your estimate request!
If you've been putting off getting some tree work done, give us a call. We would love the opportunity to help!
Thanks again, everyone. Whether you've been with us since the beginning or you're just getting to know us, we're happy to have you along for the ride.
Here's to supporting local, working hard, taking care of our neighbors, and continuing to build something we're proud to call ours. ❤️🌲
