Brendan Matthews who runs "The Barn Raisers" finally got to putting this "Swan" Boring Machine back into working condition. The parts were given to him many years ago and he had to make most of the wooden pieces and find many of the metal too. This is his favorite model and he's added it to three others he and his guys use daily. Having used motorized chain morticers, Brendan realized this model (and the similar Millers Falls) lets him cut mortices quicker - and quieter. So if you see one available anywhere, let him know!
Also, two "happy beams" being produced in the shop for an upcoming pavilion.

Splint Brewster!
"He gave me my first barn job", Brendan Matthews of "The Barn Raisers" stated. "He took a chance and hired me to build BARN #1 for his Haddam Neck home." Splint accompanied Brendan in Raisings that followed until he (and his dog Louie) joined the company. He became proficient in timberframe joinery and added greatly to the constant humor for which the Barn Raisers have become famous. "This is the best job I've ever had", he told me once. After fifteen years, Splint retired five years ago. "He will be sorely missed", Brendan states.
