WINTER LAWN CARE 101 ❄️🌱
Your lawn may be “sleeping,” but how you treat it now determines how it wakes up in spring. Here are a few essential tips from your friends at Lawn Doctor:
✔️ Limit foot traffic on frozen grass — Frozen blades break easily, causing long-term damage.
✔️ Clear snow piles gently — Heavy piles can suffocate grass and create dead spots.
✔️ Keep salt away from turf — Ice-melt products containing salt burn grass and soil.
✔️ Use calcium chloride instead of rock salt — It’s safer for lawns, pets, and walkways.
✔️ Don’t scalp the lawn before winter — Higher grass helps insulate fragile roots.
✔️ Clean up leftover leaves — Trapped moisture = mold + snow mold fungus in spring.
✔️ Avoid parking cars or storing objects on the lawn — Compacted soil takes months to recover.
✔️ Plan ahead for spring treatments — Pre-emergent, fertilizer, and aeration will set the tone for a thick, green lawn.
Your lawn rests now... but spring success starts today. 🌿
