Complete the Seat

Complete the Seat Offering all types of chair seat weaving from hand cane, pressed cane, varieties of rush patterns and materials, to various binder weaves.

I was given the gift of weaving from my father, who was an internationally known furniture designer and manufacturer who held over 30 patents in the field of furniture design. He wove chair seats as a hobby and a service to friends. My dad learned the craft from his father who was a highly skilled fine cabinetmaker and furniture carpenter. So being a third-generation woodworker in a family of wood

workers I find it tremendously satisfying to look at a chair that I have just re-woven, repaired, and cleaned up, and given new life. These pieces come into my home broken old relics from a generation gone by, and by the time I’m done they feel like old friends that I hate to see go. I've done all types of chair seat weaving from hand cane, pressed cane, varieties of rush patterns and materials, to various binder weaves. Even if it is something unique I enjoy studying weave patterns made by talented hands long ago, and learning how to reproduce the craftsmanship. Sometimes the work involves chair component repair and finish re-touches. Also offering repair and re-glue to other furniture.
