This one was night and day from the last one….and incredibly rewarding.

No plant list, but try for mostly natives
No perfect edges or lines
Client’s full trust
Creative opportunities front and back

We built the rain garden in the front yard last year which lead the way for an amazing transformation and the cutest stone patio.

The backyard was an overgrown jungle between the house and the covered patio. We took the 2 downspouts and created a creek bed with leap frog boulders to get across.

So many parts to love on this one, but my favorite is by far the backyard creek bed. I wish you could see it IRL.

Thank you Sarah for a couple feathers in our cap.

One step at a time with this lil lady. We prepped the front yard last fall and planted her up this spring. That backyard pergola/patio combo was the finishing touch though for a summer full of BBQs.

Looking forward to phasing out the rest of the backyard this winter for a spring 2027 planting.

If you’ve got the patience and a long term plan, phasing costs can be a great way to go.

Will I be back by summer’s end to take pictures of this front yard, drought tolerant bombshell? Definitely.

The new patio and pergola came right in time for my client’s 40th birthday celebration too 😎

Woweee!! This one wins the award for most dramatic.

From old patio and overgrown hedge to useable deck and manageable planting, this one had some big changes.

The raised beds had already been placed in the sunniest spots, so we planted the perimeter and gave a nicer path material to tie it all together.

Can’t wait to see all the flowers that come out of this new garden!

We didn’t have much to do with this one except a good ol’ fill-it and plant-it situation.

Thanks to Landscape Design in a Day and apprentice , we were brought in for the finishing touches.

After the client did the arbor and steel, we filled all the beds and planted a load of oranges and reds to tie with the family heirloom bike on display.

The new tiny home is going to feel right at home once these plants fill in 😍

No before pictures, and a tough garden bed to photograph, but all the little details came together nicely.

It just takes a few shrubs, a bunch of divided ferns, a handful of Heuchera, two big rocks and a couple of nurse logs to give this little woodland garden a nice start.

Grab a book from the little free library while you’re here 🤓

New house on the market alert!

My client gave us two weeks to plan, plant, and fix up the landscaping for this newly listed house in Laurelhurst.

My thoughts going into it: what is affordable, evergreen, big, not cut back, colorful, available, not going to get immediately ripped out by the next owner, and simple this time of year? Let me tell you- not much.

For my plant people, the list included Sweet Flag, ground cover raspberry, Mahonia nervosa, Lavender, Sedum, Paschysandra, Sweet Box, Escallonia, Caryopteris (not evergreen), Heuchera and Viburnum davidii.

We ripped out all of the onesey-twosies, the layers of landscape fabric, topped up the gravel, and cleaned every w**d out of every nook and cranny.

If you’re in the market, this house (and ADU) have been meticulously built by the owner himself and it even puts our impeccable work to shame (that’s how good it is!).

The theme? You guessed it. Rip it all out and leave it a beautifully prepped clean slate for her to do the plant magic.

I never would have guessed that I’d be calling one of my best buds to talk about juniper, ledger boards, and lag bolts, but here I am.

Feeling proud of our little companies, and honored to be invited by a trusted colleague to install her design.
