Happy August! ☀️
Some might call this time the, "Dog Days of Summer." This fella found his way up to our porch over the weekend. We've had lights on our porch at night to deter critters from wanting to home up in the ceiling (a different story for a different time perhaps), and this not so little guy was attracted to the lights. Known as a Dobsonfly, these interesting looking creatures start out as larvae in bodies of water. So, we assume it came from our stream a little ways away from the house. I'd never seen an insect like this before, so I used Google Lens to tell me what it was.
