Small leak repair in Cambridge. Basement window was taking water in through a construction joint between the rubble stone and cast in place concrete opening. We poured a new footing pitched away from the house and closed the opening with plywood and an elastomeric coating. Also an esthetic improvement.

Old rubble stone foundations are challenging in many ways. Negative and Positive side options include Cement coatings containing waterproofing, french drain’s and sumps. They are more costly than exterior repairs in some cases. This one in Cambridge posed many leaks in one location. The mortar had deteriorated to dust and tree roots aggressively grew through these joints. Pinnacle cleaned the stone and applied a new suitable substrate at the trouble area to receive the waterproofing. We used a bituminous membrane to create a new barrier with proper drainage materials. Leak free for the past few rain storms.
