A key milestone in Fall River’s 25-year effort to realize the full development potential of its’ waterfront is underway! The issuance of the Route 79 Invitation to Bid brings our community one step closer to a transformational mixed-use development that will positively impact Fall River and the surrounding region.

The project is expected to generate approximately $1 billion in private-sector investment and create a vibrant waterfront destination featuring new housing, restaurants, cafés, retail establishments, and other commercial uses.

I value the collaboration between our state and local partners and extend our sincere appreciation to Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and the many past and present state and local officials whose collective leadership and persistence have helped move this historic redevelopment opportunity closer to fruition.

- FreezPak Logistics has officially opened its temperature-controlled logistics facility at 1151 Innovation Way in Fall River, to serve the greater Boston area and New England.

The company said the site supports its Northeast expansion and its wider plan to build a coast-to-coast cold storage network in the US.

The facility provides up to 12,789,000 cubic feet (approx. 362,144 cubic meters) of temperature-controlled capacity. FreezPak said the site is designed to meet demand for cold chain infrastructure in New England and the broader Northeast corridor.

Services at the site include cold storage, container plugin, crossdocking, container unloading, transportation, repacking, ecommerce fulfillment, customs bonded services and USDA/FSIS inspections. According to the company, the location also offers access to the port and major highway corridors linking Boston, Providence and other markets.

FreezPak said the facility will support import/export and supply chain operations for food distribution, pharmaceuticals, seafood and other perishable goods. The Massachusetts opening follows recent launches in Jacksonville, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, and adds to the company’s sites in Chicago, Illinois, Houston, Texas, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Suffolk, Virginia, and multiple New Jersey locations.
