Butterfly eyes have very fine-tuned color perception and can see so many more colors than we can. They can see light reflected from the ultraviolet part of the spectrum. They have compound eyes with as many as 17,000 mini lenses, depending on the species. Scientists are not sure if they are seeing a mosaic of multiple images of the world or if their brain unifies it into one image. Here are macro images of a clouded sulphur butterfly. Nature is a marvel!
