The dandelion... so pretty right? Everyone's favorite flower as we head towards Mother's Day. 🙃 Sarcasm fully in play here 😉 Why do we see the north sides of roadways popping dandelions right now, and then you look at the south side and there are none, or very few? Well, the north side usually tilt toward the sun, and that makes the ground temps rise faster in the spring. Therefore w**d gemination happens sooner. In these untreated areas whether it is along the highway or on lawns that are not taken care of regularly, the dandelion is germinating now along with other w**ds. Let them pop as only post-emergent applications will help once present.

All this moisture...yes the grass is very green, but why hasn't it been growing much over the past few weeks with all the rain? You may have noticed that in some areas, yes, grass growth has taken off, but in other areas, not so much. Again, why? Well, where the soil is warmer, you will see more significant grass growth earlier in the season, but where the soil remains cool and slow to warm up, growth slows as well. Grass likes to grow more once we are consistently above 45 degrees in our soils, and most of April brought us ground temps mostly staying around 45 degrees and not shooting up so high. As we continue to warm, and with all the moisture we have seen, the grass should take off and probably become very thick this spring once it starts its re-seeding process.

As predicted, El Nino has really affected our winter season, with warmer than normal temps, and lack of snowfall. This means CNR Spring Services will likely start early.
