I received two separate messages this week about the timber frame pavilion at Camp Kawanhee. The first from a friend of a friend (thanks Brett ) dropping off their son and the second from from a counselor on site. Knowing this frame is providing a place for kids to come together is so wonderful.

Thankful doesn’t even BEGIN to describe the last 18 months. When the world flipped upside down we held on tight and jumped into our most exciting, grateful, spontaneous, stressful, back bending, out of this world, life long friend making period of Maine Barn history. It has truly been an honor to help create structures that will hold thanksgiving dinners, sleepovers, hideaways for generations to come. As we sat down to dinner this afternoon I couldn’t help but smile while thinking of all that I am grateful for. Mark, Connie, Tom, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Richard, Mark, Tonya, Tim, Jennifer, Nathan, Peter, and James, thank you for these projects. Zane, Laurel, Jon, Ben, Rob, thank you for your hard work and love of this craft.

One of a kind! This was our second project with Mark and Tonya in less than a year. This frame has many unique characteristics; mixed timber species (eastern white pine and Douglas fir), 15° end wall, single pitch roof, keyed beams, splines, so many splines, curved exterior walls, partnership in joinery and raising with , and extended timber delivery times based on the booming construction field. As always we had incredible crane work from and the Maine Barn crew! Not to be missed: The Scream in the timber 😱

Had a great time hunting for trolls and building fairy houses 🧚‍♀️ today at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. It’s always a treat to walk through the timber frame potting shed in the Learner Garden 🏠🪴
