Quick win for a restoration company this week:

They were told their air mover needed a completely new motor. That quote wasn’t going to be cost-effective, so they brought it over to Prism Specialty Restoration for us to take a look.

Our techs opened it up and found the real problem — a bad lower bearing. We replaced the bearing, put everything back together, and the unit is back in service.

They avoided buying a brand-new air mover and got their equipment working again.

Love these kinds of saves. A little diagnostic work can go a long way.

Anyone else ever had equipment that was “condemned” but ended up needing just a simple part? Share your story in the comments — always interesting to hear how other shops handle these situations.

Equipment downtime doesn’t just cost you a repair bill. It costs you jobs. Deadlines. Revenue.

Last week a restoration partner brought us a dead dehumidifier. We fixed the obvious issue — a failed circuit board — then kept digging. Found a small copper line leak that would’ve taken the unit down again in days.

Two problems. One visit. Unit back in the field.

If you’ve got critical equipment sitting idle, don’t wait for it to become a bigger problem. Bring it in. We’ll find what’s actually wrong.

What’s the biggest headache you face when gear goes down mid-job?

Water Damage to Electronics: What You Don’t See Can Destroy Your Valuable Devices

A circuit board that was removed from a flooded home.
Left: Before — Heavy corrosion, debris, and moisture buildup on the circuit boards.
Right: After — Professionally cleaned and restored by our specialists.

When a home or business floods, many people think running fans and dehumidifiers will save their electronics, computers, TVs, appliances, and other devices. Unfortunately, that’s rarely enough.
Moisture quickly infiltrates tight spaces, circuit boards, connectors, and internal components. Combined with dust, dirt, and contaminants from floodwater, it creates a corrosive “mud” that leads to oxidation, short circuits, and permanent damage over time — even if the item powers on initially.

Why quick action matters:

Standing moisture + debris accelerates corrosion on metal contacts, solder joints, and copper traces.
Fans and dehumidifiers dry the exterior but cannot effectively reach and dry hidden internals without professional removal and specialized cleaning.
The longer items sit in a wet environment, the lower the chance of successful restoration.

Industry Standards (IICRC S500):
The ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration outlines best practices for handling contents, including electronics. It emphasizes rapid response during the stabilization phase — safely removing and documenting affected personal property to prevent secondary damage like corrosion and microbial growth. Certified technicians use controlled cleaning methods, ultrasonic or specialized electronics restoration techniques, and thorough drying to salvage items that would otherwise be totaled.

Don’t wait — Call Prism Specialty Restoration first!

If your structure has flooded and contains electronics or appliances, make Prism Specialty Restoration your immediate call during the stabilization phase. Our team expertly removes, inventories, and restores water-damaged electronics and contents using industry-leading processes. We help maximize recovery and minimize replacement costs for homeowners and insurance claims.

⚠️ Compromised Roof? Your Most Valuable Items Are at Risk 🏠

Oklahoma homeowners and business owners — when a roof starts to fail, the damage doesn’t stop at the ceiling. It quickly becomes a threat to everything inside.

This is what a compromised roof can do in a matter of hours. Insulation, debris, and potential water intrusion destroy furniture, flooring, and — most importantly — the things that matter most to you.

Here’s what you should do immediately:
✅ Remove your most valuable and sentimental items first — family photos, heirlooms, important documents, jewelry, electronics, collectibles, or anything with high monetary or emotional value. Get them out of harm’s way as quickly and safely as possible.
✅ Prevent further damage — The longer these items stay in a compromised environment, the greater the risk of water damage, mold, contamination, and irreversible loss.
✅ Reduce your stress — Taking this step early lifts a huge weight off your shoulders during an already overwhelming situation. You can focus on getting your property secured knowing your treasures are protected.

Roofing contractors, restoration general contractors, and industry partners — this is where we can make a powerful difference together. When you spot roof damage on a job, recommending immediate contents protection sets your clients up for success and strengthens your reputation.

Prism Specialties of Oklahoma is your trusted partner for specialty contents handling, cleaning, and restoration. By teaming up with us, you can offer full-service solutions that protect valuables, speed up claims, and deliver better outcomes for every customer.
Let’s build stronger partnerships today. Whether you need reliable contents restoration support on your projects, referral opportunities, or a seamless collaboration that helps your business stand out — we’re ready to work with you.
📞 Call 405-441-1655 to discuss partnership opportunities or schedule a service.
Don’t let a compromised roof steal what matters most. Homeowners & business owners — call us for help. Contractors — let’s partner and win more together.

Prism Specialties of Oklahoma — Protecting what matters most, one partnership at a time.

Some pieces of art carry more than monetary value. They carry memory.

At Prism Specialties of Oklahoma, we recently worked on a collection of drawings that held deep sentimental significance. These were among a grandmother's last works, and over the years, prolonged UV exposure had taken a visible toll on them. The client wanted to know if restoration was possible.

Our in-house artist took on the project with care and precision. The results speak for themselves. The work was brought back with attention to detail that honored both the craft and the story behind it.

This is a reminder that restoration is not always about structural damage or insurance claims. Sometimes it is about preserving something irreplaceable. The skill set required is the same, and the standard of care should be no different.

For restoration professionals and adjusters, cases like this highlight the importance of having qualified in-house talent who can assess and address fine art and content restoration with the same rigor applied to any other loss category.

What types of content or fine art restoration cases have you encountered that required a specialized approach?
