Wente Plumbing & Fire Protection The four original stockholders, Maurice Wente, Robert Schuette, Richard Flach and Robert Dirks each worked in the corporation until his retirement.

Wente Plumbing, was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois on January 6, 1960 to "operate a general mercantile and contracting business for the sale of plumbing, heating, air-conditioning equipment and supplies." The Company while starting out in residential work soon transitioned into commercial work and by the early 1970’s was involved primarily in commercial plumbing and industria

l process piping, operating in a 75 mile radius of Effingham. Today the business is being managed by second generation employee, Michael Wente. While still involved in the commercial and industrial work, the company has moved back into the residential arena and is pursuing the service and repair market. The company is no longer in the heating and air conditioning business, but has entered into the fire protection business, becoming a State of Illinois licensed fire sprinkler contractor in 2000.
