It’s deck season!!!
Wondering what your deck will cost? Here’s a breakdown.
We believe in complete transparency, so we’re sharing a real estimate for a popular build: a 12x16 deck, one story in the air, featuring Trex Enhance decking, white vinyl railing, and a 14-step staircase.
Here’s the cost breakdown:
🔹 12x16 Deck (192 sq ft @ $65/sq ft): $12,480
🔹 14 Custom Steps (@ $500/step): $7,000
🔹 Drawings & Permit Fee: $500
🔹 Total Investment: $19,980
Optional:
🔹 4x4 Landing attached to the deck: $2,000
🔹 Deck demo (if needed): $8/sq ft
Why are the steps so much? Because they take up a lot of time. We do 5 stringers with blocking and picture frame every single step.
This is our budget friendly Trex Enhance build — done right. If you want a high-end deck with premium materials and upgrades, we can absolutely accommodate that — but that’s not what this post is about. This is about showing you that even at a budget-friendly price point, we don’t cut corners.
This build features a single beam with three footings holding one end of the deck, with the other end attached to the house.
We aren’t trying to be the cheapest. That’s not our goal. We want you to be happy. We take our time and do it right.

Here’s what’s included in this build:
✅Trex enhance decking and a vinyl rail
✅ #1 Ground Contact Lumber — for the frame.
✅ Rot Guard on All 6x6 Posts — We wrap all 6x6 posts in rot guard to prevent rot at the most vulnerable place — ground level.
✅ Picture Frame Deck — We picture frame the deck for a clean, finished look.
✅ Staircase Craftsmanship — 5 stringers with blocking and picture frame every single step. Details matter.
✅ Solid Foundation — all footings are 18” round and to the frost line. Each full staircase gets 2 footings at the bottom AND 2 in the middle for maximum stability.
✅ Joist Protection — We apply a deck frame coating to the tops of ALL joists to prolong the life of your deck.
✅ Beam Sealing — Where there’s more than one ply, we use deck tape to seal the crack between plys so moisture doesn’t sit there and rot over time.
✅ Clean Finish — We always use hidden fasteners when possible for a flawless look.
✅ Skirting Done Right — White PVC or matching deck/step skirting installed underneath the picture frame— how it should be — so water doesn’t roll behind the fascia and rot out the wood behind it.
