The fall foliage and fabric backdrops are about to go up.
If you run a school, a church, or an event space, that seasonal decor sits under California fire safety rules for places where people gather. Fall decorations, artificial foliage, stage backdrops, tablecloths, and hanging drapery can all be part of what an inspector looks at.
September is when it all goes up, and it is also National Preparedness Month. A good week to check your setup before the harvest and Halloween events fill the calendar.
Three things worth checking before you decorate:
- Is the material flame resistant, or does it need treating first?
- Can you show documentation if an inspector asks for it?
- Is anything hung or draped where it blocks an exit or a light?
Sort it out early, and the events run without a last-minute scramble.
Save this for your fall setup, and tag whoever handles decor in your building.
