In Memory of Richard A. Najera — The Legacy Behind Lone Star
Today is a difficult day for the Lone Star family and for the Najera family.
Mr. Richard A. Najera passed away today, October 4, 2026, at the age of 89.
Richard was born and raised in El Paso and graduated from El Paso High School. As a young man, he once told his mother, “I’m going to be successful, and I’m going to work hard.”
That is exactly what he did.
He built Lone Star Electric into one of El Paso’s most respected electrical contracting companies and later created Lone Star Homes, expanding the Lone Star name into complete home remodeling with Roofing.
His accomplishments went far beyond business. Richard believed that success came with a responsibility to give back to the community that had given him so much.
He served as an Alderman for the City of El Paso during the 1970s and 1980s, worked on city budgets and transportation improvements, including S**T transportation, and participated in the efforts surrounding the Amigo Man for El Paso.
He was also President and a founder of Channel 26 KINT, helping bring Spanish-language television to El Paso's Spanish-speaking community.
But behind all of those accomplishments was a man who believed in hard work, professionalism, treating people right, enjoying life, and always finding a reason to laugh. Anyone who knew Richard probably remembers his unmistakable whistle and the joke he always seemed to have ready.
He was Lone Star.
Today, Lone Star Homes Roofing Systems continues what he started.
We will continue to show our customers the professionalism, work ethic, integrity, and pride that Richard A. Najera built the Lone Star name upon.
And we won't simply preserve that legacy. Lone Star will continue to become stronger, continue to grow, and continue to have an even greater vision for the years ahead.
The company has evolved since it started with Richard, but the foundation will remain:
Work hard. Take pride in what you do. Treat people right. "Service is our most important product"
Richard, the Lone Star name you built will remain.
We will carry it forward.
Rest easy, Mr. Najera. Your work is done, but your legacy is not.
