How a tree is structured matters for the health of the tree. The shape of the branch attachment can determine how likely that union is to fail.

U-shaped unions are stronger and less likely to fail than v-shaped unions. V-shaped have less trunk tissue to support the stem or branch and may have internal bark tissues inside the union pushing the stems apart.

If you notice v-shaped unions in the trees around your property, give us a call and we can recommend mitigation options to reduce storm damage and increase the overall health of the tree.
