The home of Craig Coyne and Gary DeNezza. The front gardens tailored perfectly to the scale and style of the house, more Murray’s Hosta Farm Hostas and Japanese maple. Each tree named for a loved one.
But even more than the details and stewardship of the beauty here was the way I felt here. sitting on this little stone porch, I took out my markers, listened to the gentle trickle of water over the fountain, and tears started prickling behind my eyes. Not sad. an overwhelming sense of love and rest.
I started drawing the dark stone fountain, the tree behind it and the lush greenery. All framed by that bright cool stone arch. I edited out the chairs (I’m the artist I can do what I want)
As I sat there, another Flinger walked up and said “I don’t know why but I could just cry” - I told her same. As I sat more people joined and then we heard the “it’s time to get back on the bus!” makes me scramble to add the last details.
I gave the sketch to the homeowners, my fun tradition , and Gary and Craig were so delighted they showed the whole bus my drawings (last picture Kathy Jentz, WG Magazine )
This place, these people, all of it so special.
