We specialize in retaining walls, excavating, decorative concrete, landscaping, and general exterior construction work. founded Isbir Construction & Landscape Corporation under the name of Mickey's Lawn Service. Our company originated and is still located in Elizabeth Township, but now services throughout the region.

This backyard transformation turned out as beautiful as we anticipated! 🙌

We got a call from a Pittsburgh Homeowner about an incomplete and incorrect French Drain installation and their yard now looks like this!

A French drain isn't the ideal solution for quick moving surface water because the water has to soak through the soil and gravel before reaching the perforated pipe for efficiency. During a heavy Pittsburgh rain, there's simply too much water moving too quickly.

A catch basin is a much better solution for capturing that water because it provides an open inlet at the surface. From there, a solid, non-perforated pipe can quickly carry the water away.

Think of it like this:

French drain:
🌧️ → soil → stone → perforated pipe → away

Catch basin:
🌧️ → open grate → solid pipe → away
