The California poppy in our logo means more to us than branding. It represents generations of deep California roots, conservation, and stewardship. 🌱
“My great grandfather, Newton B. Drury, helped create California State Parks and played a major role in protecting the redwoods we all enjoy today. That passion for conservation carried through my father’s career in forestry and land management, and eventually into the work Kaycie and I built with Emerald.
When we started the company in 2010, we struggled to find the right name until we attended a meeting of young leaders where Sacramento was repeatedly referred to as the “Emerald Valley.” The second we heard it, we knew we had our name.
With our roots in California and our work in erosion control and hydroseeding, I also knew exactly what our brand symbol needed to be: the native California poppy. Today, the orange branding, like the poppy itself, is part of our story. Every time I see that flower, it reminds me of my family history, our mission, and the California landscapes we’re proud to help protect.”
