Top left breaker in this panel is a 40 amp 2 pull for an HVAC unit. The person that ran it attempted to run wire in parallel, which you cannot legally do with . The breaker is also oversized based on the nameplate information on the unit. We have schedule a service call to replace the wire and install the propper breaker based on the equipment.

Sometimes just because someone is a contractor, doesn't mean they are an electrician. Make sure you verify licenses with the texas dept of license before allowing a company to work on your equipment.

This is the 3rd call we have gone on in the month of April where a 200 amp meter was double tapped. This one was double tapped and the 2nd wire was undersized. While many people do not think it is wrong, it is in fact wrong and illegal. We are seeing so many safety issues out in the county where contractors who are not electricians are doing illegal work. Please verify your contractors have a current Texas Electric Contractors License. It is not enough to have a master's license. A master does not have to be insured to protect your home.

If you have this panel in your house, give us a call. This is the infamous Federal Pacific Panel. It is known for the breakers failing to trip when overloaded. This results in them being the cause of 1000's of fires each year. They were installed in homes between the 1960s and 1980s. If you have this panel in your home, please request a quote for panel replacement from your local electrical contractor.
