Another day, another job. Another excuse to play in the dirt. 🚜💪

The crew's been keeping busy out in Stafford, digging, moving dirt, and tackling some drainage issues.

Not every job is pretty, but somebody's gotta do it! 😎

A little behind-the-scenes look at what we've been up to in Stafford, CT.

Our crew has been hard at work tackling some drainage issues for homeowners who've had water getting into their basement and garage.

We've been digging around the foundation, putting in new drainage pipes, and getting everything set up to move water away from the house.

It's a pretty big job, and there's a lot that goes into it. The funny thing is, once we're done, most of this work will be completely buried.

Here are a few shots of the guys getting it done.

Water in your basement is never a good sign.

We're out in Stafford, CT, working on a drainage project for a homeowner who's had ongoing water issues, including a basement flood about five years ago.

The goal is to help keep that from happening again.

We excavated down to the foundation footing, installed new drainage piping, had the foundation sealed, and are tying the gutters into a drainage system with a sump pump to help move water away from the house.

We're also addressing water getting into the garage by installing a channel drain.

It's a pretty involved project, but that's what it takes sometimes to address the source of a water problem rather than just dealing with the damage afterward.

This project ended up being a lot more than just replacing an old patio.

We removed the existing patio and rebuilt the space in a way that gave the homeowners about twice as much usable outdoor space.

From there, we updated the landscaping around the back of the house with new plantings and landscape beds, added new stone, and cleaned up the existing beds so everything worked together better.

We also regraded the area to help direct water properly, then finished everything off with hydroseed.

For the hardscape, we used Cambridge pavers along with natural stone from Skyline Quarry in Stafford.

There were a lot of different pieces to this project, but that’s what made it come together so well. Instead of improving just one part of the yard, we were able to make the entire backyard more functional and finished.

Really happy with how this one turned out.

A closer look at some of the finished details from our Glastonbury retaining wall project.

For this one, we built roughly 130 feet of veneered retaining wall finished with Indiana limestone caps. We also carried the same veneer around a section of the home's foundation to help everything tie together visually.

That's one of the things we pay attention to on larger hardscape projects.

It's not just about building the wall.

It's about making sure the materials, elevations, transitions, and existing features of the property all work together when we're finished.

130 feet of retaining wall can change the look and layout of a property pretty quickly.

We recently wrapped up this project in Glastonbury, building a veneered retaining wall with Indiana limestone caps that follows the grade of the property and creates a much cleaner transition through the backyard.

There was a good amount of work underneath this one—from the concrete footing and block construction to working through ledge in several areas—but once everything is finished, what you really notice is how naturally the wall fits into the property.

The homeowner will be adding landscaping, mulch, and plantings around the wall next, which should really finish the space off.

Really happy with how this one came together.

Here’s a quick walkthrough of a retaining wall project we just wrapped up in Glastonbury.

This one came in at roughly 130 feet of veneered wall with Indiana limestone caps. The entire wall sits on a four-inch concrete footing with a full cinder-block structure underneath.

We ran into quite a bit of ledge in a few areas, so we had to jackhammer through it to get the footing where it needed to be and work with the grade as the wall came around the property.

The homeowner is taking care of the landscaping and plantings from here, so eventually there will be a large raised bed and landscaping tying everything together.

Projects like this are a good example of how much of the important work is underneath the finished product.

A little cleanup can make a pretty big difference.

Fall is one of those times of year where leaves and debris can pile up quickly, especially on larger properties. Staying on top of it helps keep everything looking clean and makes the transition into winter a lot easier.

Here’s a look at one of our fall cleanup jobs and the difference once everything was cleaned up.

We try to approach maintenance the same way we approach everything else—show up, do it right, and leave the property looking better than when we got there.
