Some might say we overthink the little things. We call it doing the job right. 🔨

When cutting out a doorway, even something as small as where you make your cut can make a difference. Pulling the line back just a touch and setting the saw depth helps protect the framing and keeps everything clean.

These are the little details that may not get noticed when the job is done but they matter while you’re doing it.

That’s the difference experience brings to the job.

A quick tip for anyone building a pole barn or working on a DIY project. 🔨

When sheathing a pole barn roof, the direction you lay the sheets matters. You want the sheathing running perpendicular to the purlins, not in the same direction.

It’s a small detail, but it can make a big difference in how solid the roof feels and how well the sheathing works with the framing.

There are a lot of little things that go into building it right. If you’re tackling a project yourself, it’s worth taking the time to get those details right.

It’s the little things that can make a crew more efficient. 🔨

When we’re pre-drilling the metal, we keep our measurements simple and consistent. Our screw lines follow the same 2-foot-on-center layout, which makes it easier for everyone on the crew to know where things should go.

That way, if something needs to be rechecked or a hole needs to be drilled again, everyone is working from the same numbers.

Nothing complicated, just a system that works, clear communication, and a crew that knows what to expect.

Sometimes the small details are what keep the whole job moving.

Sometimes keeping it simple makes the job easier.

When we’re pre-drilling the metal, we use simple, even numbers for our measurements. It makes it easier to remember, easier to write down, and most importantly, easier for everyone on the crew to follow.

Instead of trying to remember a bunch of complicated measurements, we can communicate a few simple numbers and keep the same screw line all the way around the building.

Small things like this can make a big difference when you’re working as a team.

Keep it simple. Keep it clear. Keep the job moving. 🔨

🏫 Proud to give back to our community!

Taylor & Hannah Zepp with Zepp Construction Inc. were honored to design, donate, and install the metal sign for Satsop Elementary (District 104). A huge thank you to April McDougal for donating and building the beautiful wood structure that brings it all together!

Shoutout to Cascade Metalworks & Powder Coating for their craftsmanship on the metal fabrication.

Grateful to be part of a community that comes together to make projects like this happen. 💙

Before we start putting the siding on, we get the metal organized and staged first.

When it arrives, everything is usually in one big stack, so we separate it by wall and make sure the bottom of each pile is flush and even. That way, each wall has its own pile and can be drilled according to what that wall needs.

And one thing we’ve learned over the years, nobody’s perfect. 😂 We usually order one or two extra pieces of the longest length and keep them off to the side, just in case someone has an “oh no” moment.

If we don’t need it, great. If we do, it’s cheap insurance.

Good prep makes the rest of the job go a whole lot smoother.

Day 1 of framing and we got a lot done. 🔨

With five of us on the job, the roof is framed, everything is nailed off, and the exterior framing is coming together.

Tomorrow, we’ll be working on the window and door framing, getting the walls prepped, and starting on the plywood sheeting.

The goal is to keep things moving and hopefully have this one ready for roofing by Friday.

Good progress, good crew, and another day closer to finished.

A little more behind the scenes from the jobsite. 🔨

There’s a lot of measuring and marking that goes into framing a pole barn roof. Even the small details matter when you’re putting everything together.

Every builder has their own way of doing things, and this is the method that works for our crew.

It’s all about taking your time, getting the measurements right, and making sure everything comes together the way it should.

Trusses are going up today. 🔨

There’s a lot of measuring, marking, and getting everything lined up before we can start setting them in place. It may not look like much from the outside, but these are the steps that make a big difference in the finished build.

Little by little, the barn is starting to take shape.

Another day on the job, another step closer to getting it done.

Here’s a look at what we’re working on today.

This 30×48 pole barn is a pretty straightforward build for our crew, but there’s still a lot that goes into getting everything ready before the building starts coming together.

The gravel is spread, elevations are set, and the crew is ready to get to work. We’re hoping to have a good chunk of the framing done between today and tomorrow.

Nothing fancy, just good preparation, a solid crew, and getting the job done right.
