SCOPE OF POSITION
We are looking for sweeper operators who are high energy, self-starters that require little oversight. You will be using a backpack blower, changing trashcan liners and removing full bags, hand picking debris, and operating a mechanical vacuum sweeping truck. This position will provide prompt service to customers on scheduled routes, including shopping centers, malls, office complexes, etc. Sweeping on job site includes: sweeping all paved areas, emptying garbage cans and doing any necessary hand work such as using a back pack blower, broom and shovel. You must report any unusual conditions on the property including discarded tires, mattresses, etc.; abandoned vehicles, unlit or defective parking lot lights; any damages to premises.
SCHEDULE
This work schedule requires individuals that can work a flexible schedule as the scheduled days of work vary from week to week with weekend nights required. Hours can usually range from anywhere from 9-11 PM to 5-8 AM.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform required inspections (Pre-trip and Post-trip) of sweeper truck and make sure truck is clean after every shift.
2. Use backpack blower to clean off sidewalks and areas that can’t be reached by truck.
3. Have a good knowledge of traffic regulations and safe driving practices in order to safely operate the sweeper truck while exercising extra caution during inclement weather.
4. Work independently on parking lots at shopping centers, office complexes, restaurants, and retail centers at night while completing assigned job(s) in the time allotted and maintaining quality of work.
6. Report any equipment failures, near misses or accidents to Lead or Supervisor within 8 hours.
7. Review scheduled routes assigned and be proactive to ask questions if route is unclear.
8. On snow events you will be required to assist in the snow removal process. These duties include but are not limited to plowing, shoveling, salting, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
o Requires work performed in outdoor environments with exposure to all weather conditions. Rain, snow, extreme heat and cold do not prevent us from running the contractual routes.
o Exposure to noise, vibrations, jarring, fumes grease oil & chemicals.
o Active, physical work involving occasionally lifting (50+ lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching. Frequently walking, standing, and driving and operating equipment for extended periods of time.
o Must have ability to speak, understand, write and read English.
o Must have transportation to and from work and a cell phone is required.
o Ability to use Electronic devices such as smartphones or tablets.
o Must be able to work nights including weekends and holidays.
Job would be 35+ hrs with possibility of overtime during peak months. Valid drivers license required. We are also a drug free workplace.
