WEEKEND SNOWSTORM:
Our team has collaborated for what seems like days now (and really it has been) and we are ready to release our first snowfall forecast for this weekends system.
While there is certainly room for totals to shift up or down. Our confidence in these ranges are at least high enough to support producing a forecast.....even with much uncertainty.
Low Pressure will strengthen and swing through the middle of the country before a possible transfer of energy happens to an East Coast low. How this transfer happens (or if it happens) plays a significant role in how much snow, sleet, and/or freezing rain comes into play. If we have a slower and disrupted energy transfer we could see less snow overall (although still quite a bit).....if that energy transfer is seamless and phases together well, then we would certainly need to up the totals we are currently forecasting.
Regardless of the specifics, it is VERY CLEAR that a major snowstorm will impact the Ohio Valley. Now is the time to prepare by charging power banks. Making sure you have gas for generators. Have an emergency preparedness kit (with blankets and water) in your car. Have enough food in your home to support your family for 3-4 days. I don't say that to instill fear, I simply say that because it's our job to get you prepared to be safe!
At our best estimate, snow will begin to overspread the area starting Saturday Afternoon, as the evening progresses conditions will deteriorate with the heaviest occurring Sunday into Sunday Night. When things ramp up conditions will go down hill VERY QUICKLY.
Stay safe out there folks and check back later this evening for our latest forecast update!!!
