Templating is not just measuring the length and width of the cabinets.

A good template captures walls, corners, sink placement, faucet holes, cooktops, overhangs, seams, and the small site conditions that make the space unique. Those measurements become the working information used to fabricate the countertop.

The room also needs to be ready. Cabinets should be installed, level, secured, and arranged in their final positions before the template is completed.

Can you replace countertops without replacing cabinets? In many kitchens, the answer is yes.

If the existing cabinets are level, secure, structurally sound, and still work for the layout, new granite, quartz, or quartzite may be installed without taking on a full cabinet replacement. It can be a smart way to change the look of the room while keeping what still works.

White kitchens are not going away, but more homeowners are looking for spaces that feel warmer, more inviting, and more personal.

Wood tones, creamy whites, taupe, brass accents, textured finishes, and natural stone with softer movement can all help soften an all-white palette. The result can still feel bright and clean while also feeling more comfortable and lived in.

Creating warmth does not have to mean choosing dark colors or a traditional style. Sometimes, it simply comes down to selecting a surface with the right undertones to complement the rest of the room.

When building a warmer palette, bring cabinet and flooring samples with you while looking at countertops. Seeing those materials together can make it much easier to choose a surface that feels cohesive in the finished space.
