I have two gallons of “Magical” paint in Sherwin-Williams Cashmere (low-luster sheen - similar to egg shell). A customer decided on a different color and these are unopened. They’re about a $100 plus retail value and I’d just take the best offer on them. If you’re interested let me know.

I still stand by the fact that painting over yellow can really calm down and lighten up a space. Maybe my eyes just don’t like yellow . . . maybe they’re more trained in today’s popular colors, but I see it time and time again. Look at this before and after. Doesn’t a fresh coat of ceiling paint, wall paint and trim paint make such a difference? And don’t my client's finishes make such a beautiful room? This one is one of my favs!!

Look what a fun makeover this little playroom got! Out with the mauve trim on the windows, the lavender-ish gray on the walls and the dark brick. In with fresh white trim, Magnolia shiplap walls and whitewashed brick! How cute!!

FINALLY . . . I showed you our new headboard several weeks ago and I’ve just been waiting on everything to come together to finally share my “after” picture! Last night my husband helped me move the curtain rod up, so it’s finally, done . . . well, close anyway!!

This is big because it’s a totally different design style for our house. We live in the woods and I’ve kept everything very woodsy, using brown toned colors in most of our common areas. But I wanted a space that feels beautiful. With kids we all know that our houses won’t be immaculate, and I wanted a place that felt cozy and welcoming. This picture shows it during the day, but my favorite time is actually sitting in the room at night with just the lamps and the twinkle lights on! I’m so thrilled with how it turned out, so I had to share. Next on my project list . . . a make over for Maggie’s room! More girly!

Here it is!!

Confession . . .

I work with people on paint colors decorating, etc, almost everyday. Often people have a whole house that needs help and they get overwhelmed at where to start! I tell people daily, “Just start somewhere.” Or, “start where you spend the most time.”

Unfortunately lately I’ve realized I’m kind of in the same boat . . . overwhelmed. Almost 4 years ago we bought our house. Because I like to paint, we quickly painted the whole thing. I spent a lot of time on colors, but that’s basically where we stopped . . . to have our third child in 2.5 years. I put up a few pictures but didn’t focus on decorating much (which I love to do). But, I had other priorities!! Thank goodness our house has really nice finishes like gorgeous woodwork, a beautiful fireplace and huge windows looking into an incredibly beautiful woods.

Fast forward almost 4 years. My kids are starting school and I’ve come up from what felt like being trapped under water. Now, I have the urge to decorate!! So I’m taking my own advice and just starting somewhere.

This weekend I built this with my husbands help. I also painted our master bed and bath (well half of the bath so far) after my kids were in bed! I’m excited to show you the final results, but I’m still working on it!!

Side note, two of the boards are also from my parents barn, so it’s so special to me!!!

What room in your house needs the most “help”?

One of the most surprising perks of being an interior painter has been establishing relationships with my customers. You welcome me into your day-to-day routine and visit with me, share frustrations, excitement, sadness. I can honestly say that many of you have become like family to me. It’s the most surprising and awesome piece of my job. Today my wonderful customer shared her fresh-from-the-garden roasted veggies with me. I love my job and love having the relationships I do with so many of you! Thanks to all of you for welcoming me in!
