Spring is showing up in the best way—and so is progress at Arc Park!

Thanks to the warmer, drier weather, we’ve officially been able to pour the concrete for our half basketball court! This is a huge milestone, and we can already picture the laughter, games, and connections that will happen here for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to Spirit Mountain Casino for funding the concrete court, and to Industrial Source for generously providing the adjustable hoop. This feature will make the court accessible and fun for children of all ages and abilities—creating endless play opportunities.

We can’t wait to see this space come to life!

Arc Park Arcparkspringfield keeps marching forward. Some upgrades in the sensory garden and hobbit hill, sand play is ready to be filled with sand, and phase III is starting to be cleared for the future park elements.

✨Delta Ponds Trail Project Update✨
This long-awaited trail project is nearing completion. Beset by numerous delays, we know this project to create 1.4-mile continuous loop around the natural area has been the source of frustration for some, including us!

Why has it been so delayed? Already a complicated project from the start, it was originally planned for construction in the middle of what became the pandemic causing a cascade of issues from increasing materials costs to property easement negotiations to permit extensions from multiple state and federal agencies.

The last significant piece of construction remaining is completing the boardwalk that connects to the east end of the bridge, which was the cause of additional delay due to geotechnical issues discovered when the footings were being installed last year. We had them reengineered, which in turn required permit extensions for work within the floodplain. However, we expect work to begin again soon and for the project to be completed this fall.

We look forward to opening the new trail segment this fall with a community celebration!
