A hard freeze is expected this weekend (April 17, 18, 19) and could likley impact those of you who have turned your sprinkler systems on early. It is recomended that you take precautions to protect your backflow by draining it if you know how, or insulating it with thick blankets or actual insulation wrapped in plastic.

There is also a risk to sensitive plants. Cover them if you can.

💧 Watering Season Starts April 15 – Know Before You Water

Starting tomorrow, outdoor watering in Evans shifts to a seasonal schedule designed to reduce waste and keep our community looking its best.

Here’s what to know:

✔ Even-numbered addresses: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
✔ Odd-numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
⛔ No watering between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Watering during the early morning or evening hours helps your lawn absorb more water, while avoiding unnecessary evaporation during the heat of the day.

Along with these guidelines, the City of Evans offers programs to help you reduce water use and maintain a healthy landscape.

Through the City’s water conservation programs, you can:
🌱 Get a FREE sprinkler evaluation with a customized watering schedule
🚿 Upgrade to water-saving fixtures at no cost
🌼 Access rebates and resources to create a more efficient landscape

This is called Spurge. It pops up EVERYWHERE this time of year. If you let it grow, it will eventually make those nasty goat head thorns that stick to your shoes and pop the tires on your bike.
