We’re wrapping up a great summer with Bryan DeHoyos-Fonseca, who completed his internship with Southern Landscape Group last week.

From day one, Bryan brought curiosity, initiative, and a genuine eagerness to learn. He asked thoughtful questions, wanted to understand the β€œwhy” behind what we do, and never hesitated to offer an idea or lend a hand. He quickly became someone our team could count on, whether he was working with clients, helping with recruiting, supporting day-to-day operations, or helping bridge communication with our Spanish-speaking team members.

We’re especially proud that Bryan’s next chapter is already taking shape. In mid-September, he’ll begin a new role in corporate technical recruiting in Charlotte, putting the skills and experience he gained this summer to work in a new field.

Bryan, thank you for all you brought to our team this summer. We’ve genuinely enjoyed having you at SLG and wish you the very best as you take this next step. We have a feeling you’re going to do great things!

Our team came together last Friday for a paid day off to enjoy some time together outside of work, with soccer, volleyball, swimming, plenty of good food from La Cocina De Sheyla food truck, and our first-ever SLG Co****le Tournament. Most importantly, it gave our team a chance to relax, laugh, and get to know one another a little better.

Lake Day may have been the official name, but this year, we began affectionately referring to it as β€œShore Day” (see the shirt backs). With Smith Mountain Lake running low during this year’s drought, our annual team celebration looked a little different without our traditional water sports, but it was every bit as fun.

"Rusty is no stranger to the landscape industry. He brings many years of knowledge about landscape maintenance to our team. He has been instrumental in leading our Landscape Management teams, often working alongside the teams to ensure everyone is well-trained on how to properly maintain our client's landscapes.

What I love most about Rusty is that everywhere we go, he is always running into people he knows - he is great at building relationships with people. He makes it a point to meet with clients so he can get to know them better and build that relationship.

The work we do this fall is what builds stronger roots and thicker growth, so your lawn comes out of winter ahead instead of playing catch-up in spring. Our team is getting everything in place now so we're ready to move as soon as conditions are right.

Here's a group that knows how to have a good time and show up for an amazing community-forward cause!

Members of our leadership and sales team had a great evening this past Saturday at the 7th annual Centra Celebration, enjoying dinner, entertainment and plenty of laughs while celebrating an organization doing meaningful work in our community.

We were proud to serve as a Diamond Sponsor of this year's event, supporting the Centra Foundation's mission to help Centra's not-for-profit health system continue enhancing care for everyone in our community, regardless of a patient's ability to pay. Investing in the community we call home is always time well spent!
