Our family of five put together our first ever gingerbread house this season for CCF's holiday fundraiser in Exeter. Wow, such appreciation for everyone who does this every year - not easy! We had a ball, the kiddos wanted to eat it the whole time (so did we). Thought to share some pics of the process and end product. Shout out to the Community Children's Fund and staff for all the great work you do for the communities. We were thrilled to participate in the event!

Happened across this design from Stiles when researching large wooden play structures for children. We are adding it to our portfolio of ideas for families to consider when thinking about backyard play structures. This particular play structure brings in elements that we really like - climbing walls, slides, fireman poles, rope railings and more - all centered around a large tree. Something like this would likely be perfect for many families and a really nice option if looking for a large play platform versus a treehouse.

Exploring new footprints for kiddo treehouses. Loving how these flare out at the front and sides - easy to envision the whimsical railings and sloped rooflines of fairytale Disney style houses with such fun footprints.

Thank you.

How does one frame a Treehouse footprint around a tree trunk? Unlike a traditional foundation, a tree moves and grows and is often right in the middle of your joist framing. Many Treehouse designers suggest leaving a 3"-6" gap (considering tree sway and maturity) between trunk and frame. Also, structural connectors and hurricane ties are such good friends.
