Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Ben has spent his entire childhood dreaming of being a carpenter. He has worked for several framers over the years building log cabins and conventional framed homes with remote wall systems for better efficiency in our harsh climate. Ou
t of high school Ben spent one year obtaining a Bible certificate in Oregon before returning to Fairbanks to get an A.A.S. in applied business - entrepreneurship at UAF-CTC. He then went on to marry and he and his wife Sharon are now raising three children in a home built by themselves on a few acres just out of town. In the fall of 2014 they purchased a Wood-mizer LT28 sawmill and have been operating it selling house logs, lumber, timbers and bevel siding as well as custom cut birch lumber and live edge slabs. After receiving the necessary training and credentials Ben has become a licensed, bonded, and insured general contractor and has since been building custom sheds and cabins. Every dollar spent at Pioneer Sawmill, LLC goes towards establishing a strong local economy and feeding our local families. This is Alaska, This is the Pioneer spirit. In God we trust.
