This is a prime example of what happens when you put grease down your sink drains. As a result of prolonged deposits of grease into the drainage system, we’re having to cut out all of the plumbing downstream from the kitchen sink. We can’t steam this. The hot grease damaged fittings and has caused leaks all throughout the system. We’re cutting it all out and replacing it. A very costly job for something that’s completely avoidable.

Sinks and toilets not working properly?

Drainage problems in bathroom and kitchen sinks, as well as toilet flushing issues, may indicate a venting system malfunction. It is recommended to inspect the venting system and potentially install a copper pipe equipped with a T-connector at the apex, subsequent to removing snow/frost. This enhancement averts future complications by permitting internal house heat to disseminate through the walls and warm the copper, effectively preventing frost formation in the vent pipe.

It's time to start thinking about removing the snow off your roof!!

We have another storm coming Monday, and it's only February!! March/April will for sure bring more snow dumps.

A couple helpful tips for homeowners for roof snow removal:

Not all foundations are created equal. Don't just drop the snow next to your house. Get the snow away from your foundations. Snow mitigation is important. Large amounts of snow deposited around the outside of your foundation can lead to unwanted erosion.

Don't use unlicensed, uninsured, and unbonded contractors. Roofs are expensive to fix. Broken shingles = leaks. Leaks cause interior damage.

Use licensed, bonded, insured contractors that have the proper insurance to be working on roofs/heights. If someone falls off your roof, you don't want to be stuck paying for someone's medical bills.

Last week during the cold snap we got a call from a concerned tenant at building because her temperature seemed very cold inside her unit. We rushed over and we arrived at the building, the mechanical room and crawlspace were just starting to freeze. Using temporary heat solutions, we were able to save this building from a massive freeze up with only two broken pipes. Huge shoutout to Prospector plumbing who dispatched an emergency technician to come help us save the boiler.

And even bigger shout out to the tenant in unit A. She had the wherewithal  to trickle the water in her kitchen sink because she had a suspicion the boiler was down. And the tenant unit D called us at 8 o’clock in the morning to report the low tempt. Just a good example of having some amazing tenants who saved the building while the homeowner was out of town by calling us and taking action.

(Breakdown of labor)

$125.00/hr. - Regular rate. 7am-5:50pm Monday-Friday for regular scheduled work.
$175.00/hr. – Mon-Friday 7am-6pm nonscheduled call out rate. (Pulling off scheduled work to task to emergency repair during regular business hours.) Min (2) hour call out.
$225.00/hr. -After hours emergency callout rate, and weekend callout rate. Min. Callout 2 hours.

*All invoices are NET 30 unless otherwise discussed between the contractor and client. Direct insurance billing is optional and to be discussed with client.
