This Hamilton job started with a wobbly toilet, but tightening a couple of bolts wasn’t going to fix it.

An improper previous repair had been leaking and caused the subfloor around the toilet to become compromised. While looking into that problem, we also found that the nearby drainage stack was in rough shape.

Since everything was already opened up, we gave the homeowner the option to take care of both issues at the same time. We corrected the improper repair, replaced the damaged section of the drainage stack and got everything back on a solid foundation.

Sometimes the problem you can see is only part of the story.

No hot water is a major problem anywhere, but especially at a senior living facility.

We were called to one in Mason and found that the building’s thermostatic mixing valve had failed. Since replacing it required shutting down the building’s water, we coordinated with the facility and returned at 10 p.m. a few nights later.

Within a few hours, the old valve was out, the replacement was installed and the hot water was back up and running.

Sometimes the best time to get the job done is when everyone else is asleep.

Hard water doesn’t just leave spots on your fixtures. Over time, mineral buildup can affect faucets, showerheads, valves, water heaters and other equipment throughout the house.
If you’re constantly cleaning scale or noticing reduced flow, testing the water is a better first step than guessing at a treatment system.

A lot of plumbing problems during a remodel can be avoided by planning ahead. Fixture locations, drains, vents, water lines and future access all need to work together before the walls and floors are closed up.

This wet spot in the yard turned out to be a leaking water service.

We dug down to the damaged area, cut out about five feet of PEX and replaced it with a new section. Fortunately, the rest of the line was in good shape, so there was no reason to replace the entire thing.

A little digging and the water was back on for this Liberty Township homeowner.
