I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT TO WORK SO EASILY! 👀🔧

Our CAT C13 to C15 engine swap is almost wrapped up, and I've gotta say, this one went smoother than expected!

We plugged in the ECM, the throttle worked, and no check engine light! Still a few adjustments to make, but we fired it up and it sounded great!

Have you guys ever done a C13 to C15 swap?

This time we're looking at the Cummins ISX front structure seal kit!

We've installed plenty of these kits and haven't had a single one leak! We also make sure to replace the sealing bolts and check the front structure for warping.

For this week's Tech Tip Tuesday, we're going back to basics!

Before chasing electrical problems throughout the truck, start at the batteries! Corrosion on terminals and frame grounds can cause all kinds of headaches.

What's the first thing you check when diagnosing electrical issues?

THIS ENGINE IS DUMPING COOLANT! đź’¦

Noah got the borescope out, and we found coolant pouring into cylinder six!

Now we've got to pull the head and find out if we're dealing with a bad head gasket or a damaged cylinder head.

What do you guys think we'll find? 🔧

WHY WE KEEP THESE AFA KITS IN STOCK! 🔧

When it comes to Cummins ISX engines, rear structure leaks are something we see pretty often!
We've used plenty of these AFA rear structure seal kits, and they've held up great. Quality parts at a fraction of the OEM price!

If we're already in there doing a clutch job, it's worth checking for leaks while everything's apart.

This engine had a nasty knock, and we finally found out why!

The rocker arm roller was falling apart and damaging the camshaft. We believe the real culprit is failed valve seats putting extra stress on the rocker.

Sometimes the damage you see isn’t where the problem started!
Have you guys seen this kind of failure before?

During an in-frame overhaul, we found some seriously worn thrust washers!

I’ve rarely seen this kind of damage in my career, and now we’ve found it twice in just a couple of weeks!

I’ve got a pretty good idea what’s causing it, but I want to hear from you guys first!
What’s your diagnosis? 🔧

Remember that wheel seal repair we showed you? The customer had it repaired at another shop just ONE WEEK before bringing it to us!

After tearing everything apart, we found mating surfaces that hadn’t been properly cleaned and a seal that wasn’t fully seated. It also appears the bearings weren’t properly preloaded during the original repair.

This is exactly why taking the time to do a job right matters. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference! đź’Ş

Another in-frame overhaul wrapped up, broken in, and ready to get back on the road!

We’ve shown you some of the work that went into this truck, and we’re pretty happy with how everything turned out. It looks great, runs great, and is ready for the customer to pick up!

This truck came into our shop after having a wheel seal replaced at another shop just ONE WEEK AGO!

During our inspection, we noticed a concerning amount of movement in the wheel hub. That’s definitely not normal and could become a serious safety issue.

We’re tearing into it to figure out exactly what’s going on. Stay tuned to see what we find! 👀
