WHIO TV posted this to their page on Friday. I thought it was good information to add to the information I provided last week concerning UV Air Purifiers. I also thought it was interesting that Dr. Amy mentioned they are looking at UV light to clean existing medical safety protection in light of the potential shortage.
If you have been thinking about a UV Air Purifier for your home or business please call to discuss. If you are thinking that it might be too expensive I believe you will be surprised. I have installed many over the last week and a half and haven't had anybody decline an installation due to pricing.
Please call or text if you are interested in more information. I will be glad to answer any questions that you may have. If you didn't see my previous post from last week just scroll down and you can read more about this technology.
My number is 513-236-9177. If you don't reach me please leave a message and I will get back to you.
Stay safe and look out for your neighbors or those in need.

With more people spending time confined inside, we wanted to know if any changes need to be made to

03/16/2020

In the last several days we have all been affected in one way or another by the COVID-19 virus. I've never experienced anything quite like what we are going through now.
I am not one to over-react but I do want to share some information that I believe is beneficial.
Along with basic hand-washing, sanitizing and social distancing there is something more that we can do inside our homes.
UV light purifiers have been available commercially for some time. Look for the blue light on the wall of your favorite restaurant or health care facility. Recently they have become more affordable for residential applications. UV light is known to kill mold, bacteria and virus spores as the spores that are airborne pass through the light. COVID-19 is a virus and tests have shown that UV light purifiers stop the spread of the spores when they are exposed to the UV light.
A UV light purifier can be installed in the furnace duct inside the home and works when the air flows through the ductwork of the furnace. If the fan on the furnace is turned to on the air will change in a typical home about 5 times per hour. This will greatly reduce the ability of the virus to reproduce and spread within a home. The COVID-19 virus has tested to remain viable in air for up to 3 hours.
The additional benefits of a UV Purifier is that it eliminates mold and bacteria. Mold builds up in the system in the spring, summer and fall when the a/c runs. The UV Purifier helps keep the a/c coil clean and mold-free.
I will be glad to discuss any questions about this technology as well as provide a free estimate to install one if you are interested. Feel free to call, text or email.

This little adorable girl is here to remind you to remove your outside hoses from your spigots before we get the freeze overnight. Leaving them connected could cause the spigot to freeze and break. This is never a good thing and not always easy to repair.

If you are just turning on your outside spigots for the 1st time make sure you check your basement. It is possible the spigot could freeze and only begin to leak after it is turned on. If you are curious how this could be possible just give me a call. 513-236-9177

Friends, with the extreme cold temperatures there are a couple of things to consider. 1. If you have a hose that is still hooked up outside, remove it. 2. If you have a laundry room off of the garage that has plumbing in an outside wall consider placing a safe space heater to help heat that room. The pipes in the wall will freeze faster than anywhere else. 3. Make sure your furnace filter is clean. A dirty filter will cause the furnace to cycle and possibly not keep up with the demand. 4. Open all the doors in your home. Proper air-flow through the house will help heat more efficiently. If you have any questions please call or text. 513-236-9177. Stay safe!

It's that time of year this weekend when we turn our clocks ahead in anticipation of warmer weather. It is also the time to remember to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. I would encourage you to consider changing the smoke detector closest to your sleeping quarters to a combination smoke and co2 detector. These have been available for some time and will work where a smoke detector is currently located.

If you normally change your furnace filter every 30 days, and you should, you may want to consider checking it more frequently during this winter. The colder temps will cause your furnace to run more and move more air through the filter.
