Today is a day of remembrance.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom. We also pray for the strength and healing of the families who continue to carry that loss every single day.

In the middle of the barbecues, time with family, and the long weekend, we hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on the true meaning of today and the lives that were given for this nation.

Each year, on the final Monday of May, Fairfield VFW Post 7925 gathers as a community to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage secured the freedoms we enjoy today, and their memory deserves not only our remembrance, but our enduring gratitude.

We invite you to join us for this meaningful tradition as we come together in reflection, respect, and unity to pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

Following the ceremony, food and refreshments will be served. To help us prepare accordingly, we kindly ask that you RSVP at www.vfwevents.org or by emailing [email protected].

This year holds special significance as VFW Post 7925 marks its 80th anniversary of service to our community. In recognition of the generations of support we have received from the people of Fairfield, we will also announce a special initiative designed to celebrate the shared history, pride, and connection that make Fairfield home for each of us.

Everybody talks about the shortage of electricians, plumbers, and HVAC techs — and yes, we need them badly.

But where are the carpenters?
The masons?
The heavy equipment operators?
The painters?
The laborers willing to learn old-school craftsmanship?

An entire generation of skilled tradesmen is getting ready to retire, and there’s nobody behind them to replace them. That’s a huge problem.

This is one of the most secure and profitable career paths out there. No matter what the economy does, homes still need to be built, repaired, renovated, and maintained. If your good the work never stops.

So why can’t anyone in the trades find help?

We need to start pushing the trades just as hard as college. The future depends on it. 💪
