Thinking about buying a piece of land, putting up a fence, or building near a property line? Get a boundary survey first.
A deed tells you what was conveyed on paper, and a tax map is a rough guide for assessment. Neither one shows you where your corners and lines actually sit on the ground. Old fences, tree lines and 'the neighbor always said' aren't always right either.
A boundary survey means researching the deeds and plats for your property and your neighbors', finding or setting the corner markers, and showing you where your lines really are. It also turns up things like encroachments or easements before they become a problem. It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to sort that out before you close or before the fence posts go in than after.
Green Forest Surveys works across Rockbridge, Botetourt, Alleghany, Bath, Augusta, Amherst and Bedford counties, and the surrounding area. If you've got questions about your property, give us a call or reach out through greenforestsurveys.com. We're glad to help.
