Project Spotlight: Indianapolis City Market Lead Remediation Project

Blue River Environmental & Restoration (BRER) is proud to support the ongoing Indianapolis City Market environmental remediation project involving lead-impacted soil excavation, environmental material handling, urban excavation coordination, and environmental compliance management in an active downtown Indianapolis environment.

This project requires detailed coordination, safe material handling procedures, and flexible field ex*****on within a congested urban work area alongside multiple contractors and stakeholders.
Proud to continue supporting environmental remediation projects that help prepare sites for long-term redevelopment and future use.

Last Friday, members of the BRER team attended HYCO Experience 2026 in Indianapolis.

The event brought together professionals from across the restoration and large loss industry for networking, collaboration, and discussions focused on the future of the industry. It was a great opportunity to connect with others in the field and continue building relationships throughout the restoration community.

The Blue River Environmental & Restoration team had a great time attending the Ohio Brownfields Conference 2026 this week in Ohio.

The conference brought together environmental professionals, developers, municipalities, regulators, and industry partners from across the region to discuss brownfield redevelopment, remediation strategies, and environmental revitalization efforts.

We appreciated the opportunity to connect with attendees and discuss how BRER supports remediation, impacted soil management, environmental construction, and restoration services across a wide range of projects.

Blue River Environmental & Restoration is hiring Restoration Project Managers for our Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY offices.

In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of commercial and industrial restoration and reconstruction projects, including fire, water, and mold losses. You will oversee field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

What we are looking for:
• 3+ years of restoration and project management experience
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Xactimate
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency calls
• Willingness to travel

Project Spotlight: Assembly Plant Decommissioning – Wisconsin

Blue River Environmental & Restoration supported the decommissioning of an automotive facility in Wisconsin in partnership with a national engineering firm.

A crew of 28 laborers worked six days a week to complete a range of industrial cleaning and decommissioning activities, including:

-Collection and disposal of potential lead paint chips
-Confined space entry to clean work and process tunnels
-Draining of process lines
-Pressure washing of floors and tunnel systems

This project reflects our experience executing complex industrial decommissioning work safely and efficiently.

Previous Project Spotlight: Lakeside Remediation (Northern Michigan)

Blue River Environmental & Restoration completed a lakeside remediation project in Northern Michigan focused on restoring the site safely and efficiently.

The project included the excavation, transportation, and disposal of over 5,000 tons of impacted soil. During excavation, our team also identified and separated approximately 250 tons of scrap steel, which was recycled — reducing transportation and disposal costs for the client.

Following removal, the site was restored to pre-excavation conditions, with careful attention to the surrounding environment and shoreline.

The project was completed on schedule, with a strong focus on safety for both the project team and the surrounding community.

Emergency Response in Louisville 🚧

When a vehicle impacted a retail storefront in Louisville, our team at Blue River Environmental & Restoration (BRER) responded quickly to secure the site and minimize downtime.

Our crew handled debris removal and completed an emergency board-up to protect the building and allow operations to safely resume.

By the next day, the location was able to reopen and continue serving customers.

BRER Industrial Services Employee Spotlight

At Blue River Environmental & Restoration, our Industrial Services division plays a key role in supporting clients with complex site and facility needs.

We’re excited to introduce RJ McFatridge, Program Manager for our Industrial Services Division. RJ brings 19 years of industry experience and joined BRER in September 2025.

RJ supports clients with projects including:

• Non-Hazardous Waste Disposal & Transportation
• Pit Cleaning
• Lab Packs
• Oily Water Management
• Facility Decommissioning

Before entering the industry, RJ served in the United States Marine Corps as an Assault Amphibious Crew Chief, including overseas deployments.

We’re proud to have RJ leading our Industrial Services efforts as we continue expanding the capabilities of the BRER team.
