FORECON, Inc. Forestry & Natural Resources Consulting Firm

FORECON, Inc. Forestry & Natural Resources Consulting Firm FORECON, Inc. is one of the longest established professional forestry consulting firms operating in the hardwood regions of the Eastern United States.

For well more than a half a century, FORECON has managed valuable hardwood forests for a variety of landowners, small and large alike, including small non-industrial private landowners, industrial landowners, timber investment management organizations (TIMOs) and institutional investors, as well as municipal, state and federal landowners. We are experts in the management of northern and Appalachia

n hardwoods, where the principal species of value include black cherry, sugar (hard) maple, red (soft) maple, red oak, white oak, and white ash. Our longevity has allowed us to develop great customer relationships with a variety of timber market participants in our regions, including sawmills, loggers and secondary wood products producers, which in turn benefits our clients. We know the markets and the market participants, and that translates to effective, efficient and financially attractive results for our clientele.

Six months ago I barely recognized myself. I was dull, rusty, and blending into my surroundings. Today I'm brighter, more confident, and setting healthy boundaries. 🏆

Results don't come from wishing. They come from showing up.

How about your woodlot? Whether it's a neglected road, overgrown boundaries, invasive plants, or a forest that hasn't had a management plan in years, FORECON can help turn "someday" into a completed project.

It's not every day you get to work alongside your dad.

Barry and Travis share more than just a last name. As father and son foresters, they've spent years sharing their passion for the woods, stewardship, and the work that comes with caring for the land.

This Father's Day, we're celebrating Barry, Travis, and all the fathers and father figures who have passed along their knowledge, support, and love of the land to the next generation.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at Forecon!

If trees could talk, we'd probably have thousands of reviews.🌲🤣Unfortunately, trees haven't figured out how to write a review (even though we think they're perfect in just about every other way).

If we've taken good care of your woodland property, would you take a minute and leave us a review? We can talk about our work all day long, but a review from someone who's actually worked with us means a lot more.

You can find us here on Facebook, Google business (search FORECON Falconer, Cortland, Titusville, etc.), and Yelp.

Thanks for helping others who are looking for forestry support. And thanks especially for helping our small, local business.

Forecon's Chief Forester Dan Ludwig shares his favorite vacation spot for our summer series.🔆 Let's take a look at Black Lake, NY!

Located near the Thousand Islands in St. Lawrence County, Black Lake is a beautiful glacial lake that stretches more than 20 miles and covers over 11,000 acres. "One of the things I love most about it is the variety," Dan says. "Whether you're drifting in open water, fishing along rocky shorelines, exploring quiet bays, or navigating among the lake's many islands, every day offers a different experience."

It's no wonder Dan loves this place. With its sandbars, rocky islands, underwater shoals, and scenic coves, Black Lake offers a landscape that feels more like northern Canada than upstate New York. It's also known as one of the region's premier destinations for trophy pike, bass, and crappie fishing.

Stay tuned for more summer recommendations and let us know your favorite vacation spots!

Forest sign: "Please don't burn down all our hard work."

This sign has seen some things. Rain. Snow. Wind. Woodpeckers. Several generations of trees. Probably a few questionable haircuts from the 1970s. 🤣

Yet through it all, the message remains remarkably consistent:

🌲 We planted trees here.
🌲 We'd like them to stay trees.
🔥 Fire would complicate that plan.

The sign is fading, but the forest is living proof of what happens when people think ahead.

Long before hashtags, smartphones, and GPS, foresters and landowners were investing in the future by planting and protecting forests that we're benefiting from today. At FORECON, we believe in continuing the tradition of sustainable forest stewardship. Oh, and making signs that are a little easier to read.

Next up in our summer vacation spots series...Chautauqua Gorge Campground in Mayville NY! This special place is a favorite of FORECON's Office Administrator/Bookkeeper Julie Ann. Tucked against Chautauqua Creek on over 1,000 acres, the campground is close to home but a million miles away. In other words, the perfect spot for hard-working Julie who keeps all the trains running around the FORECON office.

Some trees tell a story just by standing still. 🌳

This 38-inch sugar maple is a reminder of the value found in mature, healthy hardwood forests. Large-diameter maples like this represent decades of growth, ecological importance, and long-term forest stewardship.

At FORECON, we're committed to helping landowners and resource managers make informed decisions that balance forest health, sustainability, and economic value.

Every tree has a history. Let us help you ensure your forest has a future too.

What's your favorite vacation spot? 🌲🏕️⛵️

We asked FORECON staff to share pictures of their most memorable vacations. First up? The Adirondacks, NY!

With its rivers, forests, and scenic views, it's easy to see why this spot is a favorite of Chuck Alexander, FORECON's Director of Appraisal Services. Chuck took this picture during one of his many trips to the area. We're sure Chuck loves this place in any season since he's an avid mt. biker, skier, hiker, etc.

Stay tuned as we share more favorite vacation pics from the FORECON team!
