Things to keep an eye on for your home as we endure this winter storm:
Clean out the area around your furnace intake and exhaust pipes. Clean 12-24 inches around the pipes. Why it matters? Blocked furnaces can cause furnace shutdown & carbon monoxide backing up into your house.
Clean out around your water heater exhaust if it is side-vented to reduce exhaust build-up.
If you have an HRV it could stop working and indoor air quality will drop. Brush snow away from both vents. Don’t forget about your dryer vent. Make sure the exterior flap can open freely and is free of snow. This will keep everything working and keep moisture out.
