For those that asked about the gofundme this is the link to our go fund me. My husband is no longer just recovering from a quadruple bypass he had to have emergency surgery the other night and ended up having part of his large intestine removed ending up with an ileostomy.
Recovery will be much longer now. Praying nothing else happens. 6 months from now after he heals he will have to go back into another surgery as of today that's the point we are at. It's been a long road so far and it's only been 10 days.
My husband is an upholsterer and he worked for himself as a small business man with a small workshop. That small business supported this family and the bigger bills of our family. With rent, utilities, we each have our own bills we managed, groceries and gas to get to all the places we need to be our family spending on just the necessities for a family of 6 mostly 5 now because my daughter is pretty independent and supports herself but our expenses are 4,000 a month on average and he can be out of work up to 6 months now with this latest surgery then has to have another surgery to repair his colon and hopefully remove that ileostomy bag and repair his digestive tract and then recovery from that procedure. We don't know how long he will be out of work.
This also the beginning of what we call his busy season. People preparing for spring and summer all the boat jobs come in this time of year and this is the time he makes the majority of his money that we budget and get by on.
As a small business owner there is no Paid Family and Medical Leave from mass. We just found out today as I applied for disability on his behalf there is no temporary disability. They did start the process of opening a disability case for him but it takes 5 to 10 months to process because it goes back and forth between boston and the doctors to complete the application process. A doctor has to sign off that he will be out of work a minimum of one year or longer to be eligible for disability. We are not sure how it will go but if approved nothing will kick in for a minimum of 5 month to possibly 10 months from now.
We have this gofundme together to help cover rent keeping a roof over kids heads and bills of the household. We appreciate any and all help that is given even if it's just prayers or sharing the gofundme to help spread the word. I am continuing to work as much as possibly able and I am also selling off many of our belongings on ebay and market place as well as the Flea market booth that is no longer just my boutique.
I am not expecting everyone to just pay our bills for us. I am still trying to work and make as much as I can I'm just asking for help from those that can. I appreciate it my family appreciates it.
I just need my husband to worry about recovering from this so he can have a good life. He went for this heart surgery to be able to prolong his life. There is a family history of men dying young and he had the same issue if he had not had this surgery we don't know how much longer he'd be with us.
One surgery Led to new problems of his intestines not waking up from surgery and functioning properly and one thing leads to another. We never could have expected or prepared for this to happen as it did.
We are just trying to take one days at a time and focusing on getting him well. Of course for me the bills are still due, and the burden of making sure everything and everyone is paid on time and cared for is all mine now.
God bless and thank you to all of those that have reached out and those that have helped in anyway.
We feel the love and are overwhelmed with all the love and support we have received and are beyond blessed and grateful more than I can possibly say.
Thank you and finally here is the link for those interested in helping, sharing etc.
