As of August 15, 2025, Kathy and I have officially handed over ownership of the lawn maintenance division of J&K Llamas Landscape to Colton Moretto of Mowvada Lawn Care LLC (775-217-8750). Colton has been my foreman for many years, and we are confident he will continue to provide quality service.
We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support throughout the years. I started mowing lawns in 1976 as a 14-year-old boy, and it has been a true blessing to serve this community for nearly five decades. A special thank-you goes out to some of my longest customers—the Wallace Family, the Henning Family, the Tedford Family, and Ray Ferguson Construction. It was Ray’s commercial projects (yes, low bid, of course 😊) that gave us the chance to grow and eventually open our nursery.
Fallon has been an incredible home for our family and business. Whether through the nursery, completing landscaping projects, or maintaining properties, Kathy and I have cherished the relationships we’ve built with our customers and community.
We are deeply grateful for the support over the years. It has truly been a wonderful run, and now we look forward to enjoying retirement.
With heartfelt thanks,
Jerry & Kathy Llamas

After over 40 wonderful years of serving our community, we have made the bittersweet decision to retire and close J&K LLamas Landscape & Nursery. This has not been an easy choice—this business has been more than just work; it’s been a way of life for our family. We've raised our children here and watched our grandchildren grow within the walls of this nursery.

Since opening our doors, it has been our honor to help you create beautiful gardens, thriving landscapes, and cherished outdoor spaces. More importantly, we’ve built lasting relationships that go far beyond customer and business. Your loyalty, trust, and friendship over the years have meant the world to us, and we are deeply grateful.

What’s Next:

We will continue operating our mowing route as usual.

However, we will no longer be accepting new customers or scheduling new landscape appointments or jobs.

Retirement & Store Closing Sale – Everything Must Go!

We invite you to stop by over the next few weeks—not just for great deals, but so we can thank you in person.

Growing Strawberries
🍓Plant strawberries in spring. In-ground gardens, raised beds, and containers are all excellent growing areas.
🍓Give strawberries room for runners by planting them 18 inches apart. Strawberries can be grown in a variety of ways, but make sure they get 8 or more hours of sun and are planted in slightly acidic soil.
🍓Give your native soil a boost by mixing in several inches of aged compost or other rich organic matter. Consider our Kellogg premium bagged potting mix.
🍓Give plants a weekly watering and avoid wetting the leaves.
🍓Promote excellent fruit production by keeping plants fed with our Happy Frog fruit & flower fertilizer.
🍓Harvest ripe strawberries in the cool of morning and refrigerate them right away.

Seed potatoes aren't really seeds at all; simply potato tubers cut into sections. Here at J&K LLamas Landscape & Nursery, seed potatoes are sold by the pound. On average, you can harvest roughly 10 pounds of potatoes for every pound of seed potatoes planted. Plant in rows 10 inches apart; one pound of seed potatoes can typically plant 5-8 row feet, depending on the variety.

We carry the following varieties:
Yukon Gold: These are early to mid-season potatoes with thin, gold skin and yellow flesh with rich flavor. Their sweet, buttery flavor is perfect for boiling, baking, frying, mashing, and salad.

Red Pontiac: A mid-to-late season potato offering sweet, solid, white flesh, dark red skin, and terrific flavor. It is a great all-around choice for boiling, baking, frying, and mashing.

Onions can be purchased in sets or seedlings. Onion sets are small bulb plants grown from seed the previous year. Here at J&K LLamas Landscape & Nursery, onion sets are sold by the bunches. Each bulb can produce two to five onions. Plant in rows 10-15 inches apart; one bunch of onions can typically plant 10-12 row feet, depending on the variety.

We carry the following varieties:
Highlander: These yellow, slightly flat, globe-shaped bulbs are very firm with thin necks. Highlander is the main variety planted by large onion farmers. It is sweet in flavor and excellent in sandwiches, salads, and even grilling.

Ringmaster: These large bulbs have firm white rings surrounding a single center. The firm white bulbs have mild flesh and dark green tops just right for green onions. They are an excellent choice for onion rings, delicious sliced-up in sandwiches, and fantastic for tacos and chopped salads.
