Today is the kind of day that doesn’t happen often, nor is appreciated nearly enough. Rather your remembrance is spent with immediate family in a small way, with friends from all over coming together, or an entire community for a large event, today is one felt by many. Today isn’t about politics, left vs right, white vs black, rich vs poor, or any other monumental divide we see day to day. Rather, today we are all American first and everything else second. Today we remember and honor those whom made the ultimate sacrifice, without ever forgetting those left behind keeping their memory alive. Some lost a parent, others a friend. Some lost a fellow soldier, some a sibling, or both. Some a distant relative, some immediate, some can trace back losses in their family throughout American History. Some were robbed of closure, some didn’t complain as it was more than others. Some lost the love of their life. No one loss matters more than the other nor is any one person’s pain grander. But the ultimate sacrifice in our eyes lies with the parents whom lost their children, whose babies protected our freedoms and rights, whose babies laid their lives on the line to protect the future for our baby girl. From one mother to another, thank you. No words will ever be enough, but thank you is the only place we know to begin. Thank you to all that have sacrificed & to all whom continue to do so. We send comfort & peace to anyone affected.
