A reflection on the trust we build with our horses… and the secret lives of our international competitors 💚🐎🌿

Few people ever see this. Even fewer truly understand it.

Horses don’t just “fly on planes.” They go through a journey where every detail matters. This is how they are transported across continents — in narrow compartments, in specially designed stalls, surrounded by metal, noise, and the quiet scent of hay.

No open fields. No familiar wind. Only a silent tension in their eyes… and trust in the people beside them.

Each of them stands in their place, confined but not broken. They don’t panic. They wait. Because a horse is not about escape. It’s about trust. If there is calm around them — they become calm too.

There is no glamour here. No romance. There is responsibility. There is care. There are people watching every movement, every breath. Because in the air, there is no room for mistakes.

And yet, there is something incredibly powerful in this.

An animal weighing hundreds of kilograms stands quietly inside a metal tube rising into the sky… simply because it trusts.

Not the plane. Not the technology. The human.

And that’s a reminder for all of us.

Trust is not words. It’s actions. It’s years of care, consistency, and doing the right thing. It’s the ability to be there even when the other doesn’t understand what’s happening.

Horses don’t ask where they’re going. They feel how they’re being taken there.

And if you give them calm — they will carry it with them, even into the sky.

Our clients’ carved limestone horses patiently waiting for the real spring weather to start…. 💚🐎🌿

We had these two horses carved from limestone since we couldn’t find anything suitable on the market. We placed them on large slabs of natural bluestone, flanking the opening to the side garden and framing the view of the front pasture as my clients stand at their kitchen sink.

My first born baby girl, Samantha, recently popped the question on a beautiful summit in the Austrian Alps. We are so excited to welcome Maria into our family now officially, but my husband and I knew from day one that she was “the one”. She is simply the best. We love the happiness the two of them have together and look forward to sharing the fun as their next chapters unfold.
They recently shared a golf weekend with us in Naples, and we almost lost Maria when she accidentally flew out of Sam’s golf cart with a quick left at the turn, but she’s learning to hang on and to always expect the unexpected when she runs with Sam. Wishing them both much happiness! ❤️❤️❤️

It was 34 years ago today that I went down to the county courthouse to register my new business, Deborah Cerbone Associates. The office and staff were fully decked out in St Patty’s Day green, making it very easy to remember. 💚🍀🌿 It’s hard to believe it’s been 34 years, and I couldn’t have done it without the support and trust of all my amazing clients, employees, contractors, vendors and fellow professionals on our design teams through the years. I want to express my thanks to all of you that have contributed to our success these past 34 years. I am truly grateful beyond words.

And so the Year of the Horse begins… Happy New Year everyone and cheers to a 2026 full of blessings. As I look back on 2025, I have deep gratitude for all my clients that have trusted me with the design of their equestrian properties. I am deeply grateful for all the other members on our collaborative design teams that have taught me so much and for those who have referred me. I want to thank all of you for the opportunities and for challenging me to always better myself in the design of safe and sustainable environments for our horses. I look forward to 2026 to begin the brainstorming process on our new projects and to see our current projects through the design process and ultimately through to construction completion. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than to see our clients’ horses happy and thriving in environments we designed for them, so keep the pictures coming.

I am so blessed to be able to do what I truly love, and it seems the more I chase my dreams….the more the universe blesses me.

Today I’m sharing a collection of site plans I’ve designed this year and a collection of images from my own farm in between. My heart is full. 🙏🌀🩵

Christmas Greetings from our own Stone House Farm…❤️🌲🥰… photo from several years ago….compliments of my Sweet Dahlia on the left and my Crazy Wild Daisy on the right❤️ Sometimes you just luck out and have your camera ready at just the right time. If I tried to pose them for this picture it would have taken 200 photo attempts and lots of curse words 🙄 These two really keep me on my toes and luckily get along great with the horses and our chickens. Life is Good.

Reposting a post from several years back of an equestrian estate we collaborated on ten or so years ago. The builders of the beautiful natural cedar shakes equestrian facilities, , recently posted newer photos of the project that accentuates the natural patina of the aged cedar. Old or new, cedar shakes have always been one of my favorite exterior finishes.

Fall equestrian vibes 🧡🐎🌾 at one of our equestrian estates we helped design a master plan for in collaboration with . With an indoor riding arena like this, having garage door type windows, you never need to ride outside in the blazing summer sun again. Swipe for the plan which includes attached stables, hay barn with an O2 composting shed addition, round pen for training, paddocks, pastures, dry lot, chicken coop, goat barn and pen, caretakers cottage, and a private residence with a separate entry and pool, vegetable garden and woodland garden, and loads of meandering trails on an 18 acre property in northern NJ.
