Building the first P3 Flood Management project in North America

🚧 Progress continues at County Road 6! With traffic now traveling across the new bridge, crews are removing the temporary bypass and completing final construction activities in the area. It's another important step toward delivering a fully connected diversion system.

Every completed milestone brings the FM Area Diversion Project closer to the finish line.

On July 29, water began flowing through the Sheyenne River Aqueduct and engineered channel for the first time. After months of excavation, stabilization, and preparation, crews removed the final dirt plugs to connect the river to the new system.

The Authority Administration Building is nearing completion. Crews have wrapped up paving, curbs, and gutters, while exterior finishes and interior details continue to come together. Soon, this facility will serve as the permanent home of the Metro Flood Diversion Authority.

Another major milestone is taking shape at the Sheyenne River Aqueduct spillway. Concrete work is nearly complete, and crews have begun installing the final H-pile foundations needed for the maintenance road bridge. Progress continues across this critical piece of the FM Area Diversion Project.

Progress continues at the Belmont Flood Risk Management Project near downtown Fargo, as crews advance work on levees and floodwalls that will strengthen flood protection for the FM area. Every step brings the project closer to completion.

Construction continues along County Road 81 as crews advance levee excavation east of the crossing. This important work helps build the line of protection that will support the FM Area Diversion Project for years to come.

From the start of bridge construction in 2024 to the finished structure today, the I-94 bridge is a major milestone for the FM Area Diversion Project. Thanks to the hard work of our crews and project partners, this critical crossing is now helping keep the region moving forward.

Precast concrete girders are now installed on both ends of the Sheyenne River Aqueduct flume. Crews continue formwork and rebar installation as work progresses on the maintenance road bridge decks. These structures will support future access and long-term operations.

Excavation work in Reach 8 near the BNSF KO Crossing is nearly complete. Crews are also placing bedding and riprap to protect and stabilize the channel beneath the new crossing. Every step helps move the project closer to completion.

08/13/2026

Great news for local drivers. County Road 16-17 has permanently reopened to traffic after crews completed aggregate base, asphalt paving, final striping, and signage construction.
