๐ Your shingles look fine. But these tiny cracks could be letting water in right now.
We inspected this roof in Fargo this week. The shingles were still in solid shape โ but when we got up close, the roofing tar sealing the exposed nail heads had dried out and cracked. That leaves open pe*******ons in the roof deck every time it rains or snow melts.
Completely invisible from the ground. Most homeowners have no idea this is happening.
Here is the part worth knowing: this does not have to mean a full replacement. A roof tune up โ resealing worn tar points and exposed fasteners โ can add real years to a roof that still has good bones. It is one of the most affordable ways to protect one of your biggest investments.
If your roof is 7 or more years old, there is a good chance the tar is starting to crack.
We offer free roof inspections for homeowners throughout Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and surrounding areas. No pressure, no obligation โ just an honest look at what is actually going on up there.

Your shingles look fine. This is what we find when we get closer. ๐
Those dark spots are roofing tar sealing exposed nail heads. Over time it dries out, cracks, and fails โ leaving gaps in your roof deck that are completely invisible from the ground.
The good news: this does not have to mean a new roof. A roof tune up can reseal these points and add years of life to a roof that still has plenty left in it.
We do free inspections all across Fargo and Moorhead. If your roof is 7 or more years old, it is worth a look.

Hey neighbors โ sharing something we found on a Fargo roof this week that is probably more common than most people realize.
Those dark spots in the photo are roofing tar that was used to seal exposed nail heads when the shingles were installed. Over time, especially with our North Dakota freeze-thaw cycles, that tar dries out and cracks. When it does, moisture has a direct path into the roof deck.
The shingles on this roof were actually still in decent shape. The tar just gave out first โ which is pretty typical. It usually goes before the shingles do.
The good news is this kind of thing does not always mean a full replacement. We offer something called a roof tune up where we reseal the worn spots and extend the life of a roof that still has good years left. It is a fraction of the cost of a new roof.
We are Roof Keepers, a local roofing company based in Fargo. We do free inspections with no pressure and no obligation. If your roof is getting up there in age or you just want to know what shape it is in, we are happy to take a look.

Is Your Roof Due for a Tune Up?
Roofing tar sealing exposed nail heads is one of the first things to fail on an aging asphalt roof โ usually before the shingles themselves show any signs of wear. Once it cracks, moisture has a direct path into your roof deck.
A roof tune up from Roof Keepers reseals worn fastener points and sealant areas, extending the life of a roof that still has good years left. It is one of the most cost-effective maintenance investments a Fargo area homeowner can make.
We start with a free inspection. Book yours today.
