Summer Memories
Greetings, Flower Friends!
School is letting out and summer vacation is beginning for many families. This has me thinking back to my own childhood summers.
I have the best memories... like being bored for about a week before settling into a summer groove. We rode our bikes everywhere, spent time with friends, and headed up north to a resort my aunt and uncle owned.
We were a whole pack of cousins, and if one of the cabins wasn't rented, we girls got to stay in it by ourselves. We'd load the cabin with snacks and treats and it felt like pure freedom!
One rainy day we were swimming in the lake when a frantic group of adults came running down to tell us to get out of the water. Apparently, lightning and swimming don't mix. Who knew?
The dock was shaped like a giant loop, and when we were little, we could only swim on the "inside." Growing up meant finally being allowed to swim on the "outside" of the dock. It felt like a major life achievement.
One year we gathered the whole family on that dock for a photo- and we broke it!! Nobody got hurt, but several family members ended up standing knee-deep in water. Looking back, it was probably expensive. At the time, it was hilarious.
And then there was the day my dad and one of my uncles decided to try water skiing directly off the dock. Let's just say the boat moved and they didn't. Looking back, all I think about is how they escaped slivers.
Speaking of summer memories...
If you've stopped by recently and wondered where the bouquets went, I had to work out an absence of the cooler. I solved it and the bouquets are back out and ready to brighten your day.
The bouquets continue to include two true stars of the flower world: peonies and ranunculus. If there were a way to send fragrance through a photo, I would. The peony sweet scent is one of my favorites. There's nothing quite like walking into a room smelling of peonies.
The bouquets will be kept fresh in the cooler all weekend and into next week, and I'll continue harvesting as long as these beauties keep blooming.
Wishing you a beautiful day filled with flowers, sunshine, and maybe a few wonderful summer memories of your own. I hope this includes a few trips out to the farm.
Peace Always,
-Brenda
