Yard waste is collected on the same day as your trash and recycling.
๐Ÿ‚ As leaves continue to fall, residents are asked to help keep leaves and other litter out of the storm-drainage system.
๐Ÿ‚ Compost or bag your leaves. Residents can place leaves in tall, brown paper bags for free curbside pickup year-round, or drop them off at the City Compost and Mulch Facility.
To access the City's compost facility (1708 S. Armstrong Ave.) for free drop-off of leaves and other yard waste, please bring proof of residency, like a copy of your latest water bill.
๐Ÿ‚ Leaves can result in hazardous and costly stormwater issues, as clogged drains can lead to flooding of streets and property.

Materials collected include grass clippings, leaves, and brush. To learn more, including how it needs to be bagged and where to place it, go to: fayetteville-ar.gov/YardWaste

๐Ÿšจ Residential and commercial customers in east Fayetteville and Goshen are asked to adjust their water usage immediately. Due to dry conditions and extreme heat, the Cityโ€™s water system is experiencing increased demand, resulting in reduced water pressure for some customers.

The affected area is east of N. Crossover Road, particularly in areas off E. Mission Blvd., E. Huntsville Road and E. Wyman Road.

Parts of the water system are being pushed to its limit. City officials believe eliminating non-essential water usage (watering lawns, filling swimming pools, etc.) will assist in allowing the water system to recover.

โš  Failure to conserve water may result in water outages. Because of this, voluntary water conservation efforts are encouraged by ALL water customers in addition to the areas noted above.

THE EUROPEAN MOLE: Misunderstood Garden Engineer

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR UNDERGROUND NEIGHBOR:

NOT A PLANT EATER!
- 100% carnivorous diet (zero interest in your plants!)
- Consumes 50-100 grams of insects daily
- Eats their weight in pests every 24 hours
- Targets destructive grubs that damage plant roots
- Primary diet: earthworms, beetle larvae, wireworms

SOIL IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST
- Creates natural aeration better than any garden tool
- Generates 20kg of loose, fertile soil daily
- Improves drainage in heavy clay areas
- Prevents soil compaction through tunnel networks
- Distributes beneficial microbes throughout soil layers

UNDERGROUND EXPERT
- Can dig 20 meters of tunnels in a single day
- Maintains complex network of permanent and hunting tunnels
- Super-sensitive touch receptors detect even tiny prey movement
- Active year-round, even during winter
- Lives mostly solitary life in territories up to 3,000 square meters

LIVING WITH MOLES WISELY:
1. Remove molehills from lawns (free, nutrient-rich soil for gardens!)
2. Flatten tunnels in lawns with roller (no need to kill the mole)
3. Use repellents in critical areas, not poisons
4. Appreciate their work in vegetable and flower gardens
5. Remember: a mole-free yard means grub-filled soil

When you work with me instead of against me, your garden's ecosystem thrives naturally.

Let us know if you need help removing any invasive species such as Japanese honey suckle, privet, english ivey, and bradford pears!

REMINDER: To participate in this year's invasive plant "bounty" program, you need to take a picture of your cut-down invasive tree or shrubs before Friday, March 21, and email the photo of the removed plant to [email protected]. Include your name, address and phone number.

The 7th annual bounty program giveaway, in which the City replaces residentsโ€™ invasive plants with a native tree or shrub, will take place Thursday and Friday, April 10-11. This year, nandina (Nandina domestica) aka heavenly bamboo is being added to the bounty list.
